A detailed description of using camera control and the Focus tab is in the ImagesPlus camera control help PDF

http://www.mlunsold.com/files/ImagesPlusCameraControl.pdf

Look under ImagesPlus Menu Reference | Camera | Canon ED DSLR Control

I would start with just the camera USB cable. Use the Connect button on the Connect tab of the Canon ED DSLR control window to start the USB connection.

This will enable all tabs except the Bulb Capture tab. Shooting parameters, focus, download transfer, and image set capture with exposure <= 30 seconds is enabled.

After you become familiar with the above functions enable bulb capture by selecting your camera and control cable type on the Bulb Capture tab then press Reset. The Release button starts a bulb sequence."

ImagesPLus Image processing

The demo does not have the benefit of the video clip tutorials that come with IP 3.

But if you follow the instructions below you will have a starting point.

Below are two sample image sets with instructions to get you started with ImagesPlus processing. After you go through the DSLR or SBIG example start using your own image sets.

The ImagesPlus 3 image processing demo will run for a few months. The demo verion places an X in images that are displayed or saved so

### use the demo with a copy of your images ###

Two different sample image sets are available for download and use with the demo.

1) Basic Canon DSLR Processing Example

Modified Canon 300D M27 light, dark, and flat image set:

http://www.mlunsold.com/Samples/M27-Color.ZIP (86MB)

Image set processing starts with the Image Set Operations | Automatic Image Set Processsing command. Here are the steps for calibration, alignment, and stacking using the sample files.

1) Select your light, flat, bias, and dark frames on there tabs in Automatic Image Set process. The M27 sample only has light, dark, and flat raw CR2 frames so just choose them.

2) On Auto Image Set Process change the process type to Mono At Capture WB Bayer then press the Process button to convert Canon raw files, create master calibration frames, calibrate the light frames, and convert the light frames to color.

3) After Auto process finishes the Align TSR button is enabled. Press Align TSR to start alignment.

4) On Align TSR select Correlate and Translate + Rotate then check the Common COR Point box. Now left-click on a well defined medium bright star in the top left of the image. Next check the Common Angle box then left-click on a medium bright star in the lower right part of the image. The Align button is now enabled so press Align to start alignment.

NOTE :

The sample image set was capture using a mount with good polar alignment. As a result the default search radius of 40 pixels is more than enough to align all images ion the set. If your tracking is not as good then use the Correlation Parameters Setup button on Align TSR to increase the search radius to 100 or maybe even 200 pixels.

If you have a lot of shift and rotations between images in a set then use the Centroid alignmnet method and select the same star or stars on each image in the set.

5) After Align TSR finishes press the Combine | Aligned button on Align TSR to start stacking.

6) Select Excluded Min/Max Average on Combine File then press the Combine button. The combination image will display automatically.

7) Use Color | Brightness & Contrast | Digital Development with Breal-point = 7611 and Background Wt = 0.89. The image with commands arranged in step order from first to last use should now look like
