Παρατήρηση φαινομένου στην Κρήτη

Ο Filip Feys (παρατηρητήριο Sasteria στον Άγιο Στέφανο Κρήτης) μου έστειλε το παρακάτω email:

 

Public Observatory Sasteria 19/10/09

 

Strange phenomenon on the evening of 18 October.

 

While observing we suddenly saw a strange glow coming up in the west.

It started as a small arc that climbed up North to become 2 fully concentric circles with a brighter center.

The shape of the centre showed as an arrowhead surrounded by a other circle.

All of this came diffuse over with ease to spot edges.

At first the object came straight to us while it was climbing, then it moved slowly from West to North above the village to disappear behind the mountains North-West to us.

We where with 7 people that witnessed this phenomenon.

Nobody has seen something like this before and did not know what it was.

The observation was made with the unaided eye on the 18 October 2009 at 19h 12’ UT.

We could witness the event for about 1 minute till the object disappeared.

 

Has somebody seen this object or can somebody give me an explanation of what it was. If you know more or saw the same phenomenon please contact us.

Του απάντησα οτι πιθανόν να πρόκειται για αντανακλάσεις προβολέων αυτοκινήτου σε στρώματα της ατμόσφαιρας, όπως περίπου σχηματίζεται και η σεληνιακή άλως....

ROCKET FUEL DUMP: A Centaur rocket caused a minor sensation on Sunday night, Oct. 18th, when it flew over Europe and dumped a load of excess propellant. "We saw it at 9:15 pm local time (1915 UT)," report Federico and Chiara Bellini of Bodio Lomnago, Italy. "It looked like a comet with a fan-shaped tail." They took this 30-second exposure using a Nikon D70s:

 

 

 

"About 20 seconds later, a second object appeared." That was a US military weather satellite (DMSP F-18), which the Centaur booster had helped launch earlier in the evening from Vandebergh, Air Force Base in California. "And then," the Bellinis continue, "a big circular halo followed the two across the sky." The halo, shown here in a movie recorded by Jonas Förste of Jakobstad, Finland, was probably an expanding puff of gas emitted during an earlier firing of the Centaur.

 

This remarkable display took observers by surprise in England, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and many other places. Stay tuned for additional reports and photos.

Όντως, μολις ήρθε και η επιβεβαίωση απο το Satobs.

Καλό θα ηταν πάντως να έχουμε μια πιο έγκαιρη ενημέρωση για τέτοια φαινόμενα

 

DMSP F18 was launched on 2009 Oct 18, at 16:12 UTC, from Vandenberg AFB, aboard

an Atlas 5-401 rocket, and is nearing orbit as I send this message.

The Centaur's propellant dump is likely to be readily visible to the unaided

from a large portion of Europe, beginning shortly after 19:17:14 UTC. Use the 0.065 rev/d elset in the above post as a rough guide.

Κάτι παρόμοιο παρατήρησα εχθές από την περιοχή Ακρογιάλι Μεσσηνίας (ανατολικά της Καλαμάτας). Γυρνούσα στο σπίτι 3 τα ξημερώματα όταν είδα μια φωτεινή μπάλα στον ουρανό. Έμενε για λίγα λεπτά ακίνητη και μετά μετακινούνταν δυτικά όπου φαινόταν σαν να είναι πίσω από τα σύννεφα, πάλι σταματούσε για λίγα λεπτά και μετά ερχόταν ανατολικά.

Δεν ξέρω αν είχε αυτό το σχήμα καθώς έβλεπα μόνο μια φωτεινή μπάλα και δεν είχα ούτε κιάλια μαζί μου.

Έμεινα εκεί να την παρατηρώ 2 ώρες να κάνει την ίδια κίνηση.

Δεν την είδα μόνο εγώ καθώς ξύπνησα και τους γονείς μου για να μην μου λένε πως δεν ξέρω να ξεχωρίζω το φως ενός αυτοκινήτου, ή ενός λέιζερ από κάτι που ήταν στον ουρανό. Θα ήμουν σίγουρος πως πρόκειται για μετεωρολογικό φαινόμενο αν δεν έκανε αυτή την επαναλαμβανόμενη και με ακρίβεια κίνηση.
