Supernova στον Αστερισμό του Κήτους!

Αναδημοσιεύω μια είδηση από την AAVSO (American Association of Variable Stars Observers),που παρουσιάζει μεγάλο ενδιφέρον.

 

 

Daniel W. E. Green, Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams, reports (IAU

Circular 8709) the discovery by L. A. G. Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, of a

bright apparent supernova in NGC 908 (Cetus) at unfiltered CCD magnitude 12.4

on images taken May 10.14 UT using a 0.30-m reflector. Monard reported nothing

was visible at the location of SN 2006ce on the Digitized Sky Survey (limiting

mag 20.5 R) or on his images taken prior to April 1 ( limiting mag ~ 18 ).

 

Monard gives the following position for SN 2006ce, which is offset 136" West

and 28" South of the nucleus of NGC 908:

 

R.A. 02:22:54.63 Decl. -21:14:29.4 (2000)

 

Aditional observations from Monard: Apr. 1.713 UT, (16.5 R; May 11.151,

12.9 B, 12.55 V, 12.4 R.

 

Please note that this supernova is presently observable only during dawn

twilight. Observers are encouraged to follow its outburst and decline as

observing becomes more feasible.

 

Please observe visually or photometrically with a B, V, and/or Ic filter.

Report observations to the AAVSO as 0218-21 SN 2006CE. In the Chart field,

please put TB to indicate Thompson/Bryan.

Μάλλον δεν είναι και τόσο σπάνιο η ανακάλυψη ενός supernova.

Ήδη έχουν ανακαλυφθεί 75 supernova μέσα στο 2006 και έχουμε δρόμο

 

Απλά οι αρκετά φωτεινοί είναι κάπως σπάνιοι.
