Hi Fred, Do not worry about pictures from the exhibit as this is something I will look into myself using my digital camera. However, I just received a message from David confirming that he will NOT be present. In fact, he was not aware that his work was to be on display! Nevertheless, it is certainly worth the effort to attend the exhibit and the 40 pieces of work to be displayed, for they are truly exceptional. The bulk of the photos involve galaxies and star clusters with some additional examples of star trails around the SCP and Halley's Comet. Fred, How expensive is the right-angle finder for the Olympus? I looked repeatedly at getting one of these for my Canon A-1 and they are quite expensive. The units for the Canon A-1 also come in two types with the image reversed left to right as well as a proper orientation.

Hi Fred, I am slightly surprised you are not using a cross-hair or split focusing screen. One of the most difficult aspects of astrophotography is getting perfect focus and the split-screen focusing method guarantees one perfect focusing each and every time. One of the reasons I am a huge fan of the Canon A-1 for astrophotography is the split-screen feature. I also bought a cross-hair focuser for my EOS 3 since its standard focusing screen was not suitable for astro work. Something I forgot to mention to Pano was the ability to take multiple exposures since this is a VERY important feature as well. This is quite doable with my Canon A-1's, EOS 3 and EOS Rebels but not possible with the Canon AE-1, Argus Cosinon or EOS 650. As for the battery consumption, quite true but not as critical in my experience. My Canon A-1's do consume battery power for shutter functions but I would not trade them for anything. My Canon EOS 3 is quite unique in that it does not consume ANY power for extended exposures.

Σε σχέση με τη μηχανή, πάρε μια που σου επιτρέπει εκθέσεις πολλών δευτερολέπτων ("Β") για να μπορείς να κάνεις πλήρης τη δουλειά σου. Εγώ έχω Argus-Cosinon STL-1000, Canon A-1, Canon AE-1, Canon EOS-3 και διάφορες EOS Rebel. Αν μπορείς, παρε δύο και τρεις επειδή χρειάζονται όλες ... π.χ. τον Μάιο με την έκλειψη, είναι καλό να έχεις στη διάθεση σου όσες μπορείς ώστε να "παίξεις" με το χρόνο έκθεσης από μηχανή σε μηχανή, να "παίξεις" με την εστιακή απόστασή για συνθέσης κ.α.

Σεργιε, Με ενα short-tube refractor (80 mm) μιλαμε για δουλεια αποκλειστικα με τα μεγαλα ακτικειμενα (πχ. Μ45, Μ31, Μ13, Μ16, Μ42 και μερικα αλλα). Μην περιμενεις και πολυ υλικο με 80 mm οπου η μεγιστη ικανοποιητικη μεγενθυση ειναι περιπου 150x (σ.σ. 50x/" το ποιο πολυ). Αντωνης.

Hi Fred, You are a gentleman! I have a portable scope (Orion ST-80) and I would like to pick up some of the diced foam material so as to construct a proper case for it. I have already located an aluminum case ("brief-case") for it at Praktiker with the proper dimensions and all that is left now is to acquire the foam material to fill the case and, of course, to pluck the necessary pieces so that the OTA, finderscope and diagonal can fit nicely. I will follow-up with the link and phone number you so kindly have provided. Don't rush back to Greece as I am sure the weather and temperatures in California are currently superior to what we are experiencing right now. Thanks again! Antonis.

Fred, I apologize for digressing but are you aware of any local sources here in Greece for foam material, particularly the corrugated stuff where you can remove pieces to custom-fit an OTA etc? I am looking for the dark gray (nearly black) foam material. Antonis.

Timepasser, Κανε μια ερευνα στο διαδυκτιο για "drift alignment" οπου θα βρεις οδηγιες για το θεμα της ευθυγραμμισης. Μην ξεχνας οτι και κατι με το ματι μονο ειναι πολλες φορες αρκετο για να μπορεις να παρατηρησεις τον Δια (π.χ.) αρκετα ανετα. Αντωνης.
