Greece from shuttle mission STS-118

Hi Everybody,

 

Yesterday, while going through the current posting of images from the shuttle mission STS-118, old "Eagle Eyes"-that's me, noticed that through the shuttle window to the left of the crew member, one can see part of Attica, Makroniso, Kea, and portions of Kythnos and the lower portions of Euobea along with Petali Island. The direct link to the high resolution image on the NASA web site is... http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/186021main_iss015e22145_hires.jpg and the image number is ISS015-E-22145 taken on August 12, 2007.

 

Below is the low resolution image, but the high resolution image is much better-naturally.

 

Just wanting to share this minor observation with you all.

Προσέξατε ότι όλα τα αντικείμενα είναι δεμένα για να μη χάνονται στις συνθήκες έλλειψης βαρύτητας; Προσέξτε τον στυλό πάνω από το παράθυρο και τον φακό!! Πολύ γέλιο!!

Μου προκαλεί απορία πως ενώ η Ελλάδα μας είναι μία απούσα από κάθε σοβαρή επιστημονική έρευνα χώρα (και φυσικά και από την Αστρονομία), οι αστροναύτες στρέφουν την κάμερα προς αυτή την ελλαδική γη κάθε φορά που περνάνε από πάνω μας, άραγε τι να τους παρακινεί; Η ιστορία της; Κάτι άλλο;
