    Ποιον σπουδαίο κομήτη θυμάστε;

    I looked for Comet West at the time, but, due to living in a highly light polluted area on the East coast of the U.S., I never got to see it. Fast-forward to 1983 where I enjoyed observing Comet IRAS-Araki-Alcock. It was a fast moving comet, covering about 30-degrees of sky each day. That means that the comet moved just over 1-degree, two Moon diameters, per hour in the sky. It was also a very close comet, coming to 2,700,000 miles of the Earth. -Fred

    2001 Lobby Poster

    Hey Ourania, To really experience the full effect of 2001, it is best seen on the "Big Screen" in order to fully overload ones senses. Of course, if there is no "Big Screen" available, anything else will have to do. But, if you ever get the opportunity to view this movie which was shot on 70mm, on the "Big Screen", do take advantage on the opportunity. Anyhow, enjoy it. Don't forget the popcorn.

    2001 Lobby Poster

    I remember going to see this movie in december, 1968 at the Cinerama theater in athens. Great movie and always will be. I came across this poster on the net, and it is written in Greek. So, I thought that some you might enjoy it.
  5. Sure looks like someone is having a great time. Looking at Canopus gives me a good visual reference as to far away from the southern pole it actually is. When Canopus crosses the meridian at my observatory in California, I can view it just above the San Gabriel Mountains. Thanks for sharing. -Fred
  6. Nice photograph. The last time that I saw the Enterprise was on the flightline at Edwards many years ago. I am certain that it will attract lots of visitors as a static display. Thanks for sharing. -Fred

  9. I sure hope that it will be more spectacular than Comet Kohoutek was in 1973. That comet had a lot hype in the media.
