  2. Nice image with the prominence of M45 on the right. I was not aware of this temple on Naxos. One more place that I need to visit. So far I have been to 76 archaeological sites in Greece. Thanks for sharing.

    Polarex Solar System 35mm Camera

Hi, Being familiar with all the Polarex/Unitron products, I have never come across such an item in their catalog. I do, however, notice that the sticker on the camera shows that it came from DOAA Enterprises. DOAA is no longer in business. I do remember them having a monthly advertisement in Sky & Telescope in the 1970''s. I hope this helps. Fred
  4. Very nice. I am not even going to attempt to count the galaxies.

    Chuck Yeager

This event is a milestone on our route to the stars. General Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier today, October 14, 1947, when he flew the Bell-X1 past Mach 1. I remember the commemoration of this event as he did it where I used to work at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. He made it on the cover of TIME as shown in the photo.
  9. Congratulations on your first telescope. The first impressions remain with you, just as when I first observed Saturn in early 1971 through a 2.4-inch refractor-Wow! As you are aware, taking the telescope to a dark sky site will overwhelm you. You just want to keep your eye glued to the eyepiece all night long. So many things to see. So, have fun and enjoy the telescope. -Fred

    Unihex + Duetron

The Duetron is a great educational tool for two observers to simultaneously view an object. Too bad the company went out of business.

My favorite telescpope company. You will have a great using this telescope. I would still like to get the Polarex/Unitron 4-inch Model 160, just the tube assembly, mount and tripod with metal shelf. I alredy have the weight driven clock drive. Have fun!
