    Trailer Conversion

From the album: Personal Gallery Of Fred Ley

This what everyone needs for observing comfort. I took this at the 1998 Riverside Telescope Makers Conference. It housed at the time a 10-inch Schmidt Cassegrain.

John, The image looks really nice. Great job.

    Sh2-261

Nice shot! I read that it is about 30x50-minutes in size, which makes it almost as large as the full moon.

    Polarex/unitron 2.4-inch

My 2.4-inch has focal length of 900mm (f/15) as opposed to the 700mm focal length of the guide scope on the 4-inch instrument.

Jack Eastman's 6-inch Alvan Clark At Rtmc In 1986

Oh, that's easy to answer. It is in Jack's possession. I don't recall if I looked through the telescope as it was a while back. He brings it every year to the RTMC conference. I do recall looking through his 1-inch Newtonian and that it does work.

    4-inch Equatorial

As long as one takes care of things, they should last for quite some time. I had to eventually regrease the polar shaft in the the mount for the 2.4-inch telescope as the grease had dried out after many years. -Fred

    Polarex/Unitron Mount

I am familiar with that site, thanks. Yes, the site belongs to an instructor at Cal State University at Northridge, just South of where I live. I have a lot of what is posted on his site, and the majority of what I have I don't see posted on his site. I have been scanning my 40 year collection of catalogs and would like to turn it into a large encyclopedia for research depicting the progression of instrument making over the years. I have, at the latest count, made 2,919 scans of material. I still have quite a ways to go. I have uploaded a few more Unitron images to my personal photo page here on Astrovox, if interested. -Fred
