Yeah! Far out! So, like, when you gonna go pick it up dude? I hope the telrad comes with it. Fred
  3. Hi Dionysos, From what I understand from your posting, you are indicating that you may have an item that may be a meteorite. Do you have any images of the candidate? I have been a collector of meteorites for the past 23 years and would be interested seeing an image of your find. Clear Skies, Fred
  4. Hey Dude, Anytime one of us can promote astronomy, sounds good to me. The microphones aren't all that bad-yeah, like I've "been there done that" too. It was bad enough at the local cable tv station where I didn't know if I was to only keep eye contact with the interviwer and/or steal glimpses at the camera too. At least I talked about astronomy. As Buzzlightyear says.."To infinity and beyond.............." Fred
  5. Hey Anthony, I'll see if I can listen in on the radio program too. Fred

    Another photo of the day

Hi Dimitri, Yes indeed, it is wonderful that more and more people from Hellas are getting their images on the internet. It is always a nice feeling to see ones work on the internet and, to be perfectly honest, a nice feeling to have your image selected as "photo of the day" too. Thanks for the compliment. Lets all go onward and upward. -Fred

Solar Eclipse of June 30, 1973

Hi Guys, Yeah, I set up the equatorial mount and drive and the sun screen accessory. I didn't have an SLR camera with a detachable lens then. So I took the images off of the sun screen. The single "non sun screen" looking image was taken off of the back of the ground glass focusing screen of a Unitron astro-camera. The camera takes 3.25 x 4.25 inch glass plates which were hard to find then and if you found them, it cost a lot. I did use the camera in the 1980's with plastic 3.25 x 4.25 negatives. It is a bit awkward though. -Fred

Solar Eclipse of June 30, 1973

On June 30, 1973 there was a total eclipse of the sun observed mainly across Africa. It was almost the longest totality one can get, about 7.5 minutes. I set up my telescope here in Athens and took a few images of a partially eclipsed sun. Since today marks 31 years from that event, I thought I would share a few images that I took. -Fred
