The sun has here, on July 4, 2002, and one is presented with some nice colors. Microsoft ICE was used to combine the three digital images, hence the funky looking image result.

Sunset on January 10, 2003. High Desert, California. -
Sunrise and sunset is always an interesting time of day. One never knows what they will be treated to as the display is always different each day. Each day is akin to a painting, each one an original and unique. We just have to be alert and have a camera ready. -Fred -
Although I am very happy with this image, at times I wish that I had a larger sized camera to give me the ability to print a larger image. The colors are as they were seen. There has been no manipulation of the image. -Fred -

Ah-Ha! I like, I like... Oh Yeah! This came out really nice. I gather that you were using the C11 at prime focus. I didn't see you make any mention of a focal reducer in your description. Now you just need to make a mosaic of the waning moon, when the shadows are reversed, for the other half of the moon. Then combine the two together. That'll keep you busy and out of trouble for a while. -Fred -

Hi Andreas, It is very nice that you were able to interview Dennis and post it here on Astrovox. I recall it was April of 1973 that I first met Dennis as he arrived at the planetarium to fill the void left by the passing of Konstaine Hassapis, the previous director. Much has happened since then to the Foundation. Most of us know its history and can personally see the positive results of the Foundation first-hand by a worthy visit. I still have library card, number 1254, that was issued to me in 1971. May all of our contributions, no matter how small or how big, reflect what can be achieved by sharing and teamwork. -Fred
