That image came out quite nice. Although I love color images, in regards to the Moon and extended deep sky objects, I preper them in black and white-it must be the contrast. Oh well, we all have our preferences. -Fred

    Η Αθήνα σπό το Διάστημα

Nice view. The old Hellenicon airport sure is visible as a dark area due to a lack of lighting unlike the new airport which is all lit up. -Fred
  7. Admiral Hyman Rickover of the U.S. Navy? Havn't heard his name tossed around in a long time. He was the father of the nuclear navy. I guess he had something to say too. I guess in the long run, we all have something to say. Amateur contributions to astronomy? Just by participating we contribute. Kind of like the Olympic games, it is the participation. Clear Skies Everybody, -Fred

Explore the most detailed pic of the Moon

Oh Yeah! I went and zoomed in on the crater Plato and was very impressed by the amount of detail captured on its floor. This is great image for one to check against as to the steadiness of the atmospehere at the time of observing or taking an image. The Moon definitely is a challenge, waiting for those moments of excellent seeing when so much detail becomes available to the viewer. -Fred

  19. Hi Everybody, There is aninteresting short video on APOD today titled Star Size Comparison. It gives a nice visual as to just how big some of the stars know to us are. For those wanting to know, follow the link... http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html It certainly tells one a lot in two minutes and thirtyfour seconds. -Fred

    Λακωνικό τοπίο.....

This came out very nicely. Sky, stars, snow and arrgghhhhhh... light pollution. Looks like there are more points of light on the ground than there are in the sky. I was wondering if you have attempted to do any 360-degree panoramas from that location or any other interesting location. Perhaps if you can get inside of or next to some of the ruins of Mistra at night, you could get some interesting results. -Fred
