  4. Hi, Both of your images remind of a balmy summer evening just listening to the crickets and other nigth-life chirping away while looking up at the starry sky and allowing my thoughts to leave the Earth and freely float among those havenly points of light. -Fred
  5. Thre is a nice image of lightning taken by Chris Kotsiopoulos during a storm in Athens. Here is the link... http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html -Fred
  6. Hi Dark Nebula, The Wikipedia article on Pallas gives the Appeqrant Magnitude of Pallas as varying from 6.4 to 10.2. 24-inch? Dobsonian

I can't recall the exact size of this telescope. But I believe it is around 24-inches. Kodachrome 64 slide RTMC 1999
  9. Hey Andreas, I like the 30-inch F/3.7 setup. The price is not all that bad. Of course there is a shipping cost and some taxes to pay. I was curious as to the size of the secondary mirror and could not find that on their site. So, like, planning on getting one of these bad boys? If so, observing will never be the same again. -Fred

    36-inch Dobsonian

I can think of a big list of objects that I would like to look at. The galaxy NGC4565 first comes to mind and then a host of other objects. The moons of Jupiter and Saturn should be quite prominent too.

  18. I could spend hours looking at this image of yours. It allows my thoughts to wander through many different categories, besides astronomy. Excellent image. -Fred
  19. Hi Thalia, Well your image seems to sum things up pretty well. Her statue, her island and her planet all thrown into one image. Nice! -Fred
  20. Next time there will more people and more scopes. Oh yeah! -Fred
  21. That's quite a sharp image of the eclipse. Very nice indeed. I gather that you were not plagued by clouds at your observing site.
  22. This meeting went exceptionally well. As the event grows with time, I am certain that new things being added. These events just grow and evolve with time. Having such an event seemed like an out of reach dream back in 1970. But, look, here it is 2010, fourty years later, and events such as these are happening. That is just wonderful. Teamwork just makes everything so much easier. The individuals that put on the event should be congratulated for their time and effort. A thought to possibly contemplate for the future. I, for one, would have enjoyed having a few portable toilets on the field. Using the woods can be dangerous, there could be bears lurking out there. If having portable toilets means paying a small fee, that is fine by me and well worth it in my estimate. It was refreshing to meet many of the people that I have communicated with on Astrovox over the years and to see the equipment that they use in order to obtain the wonderful images and drawings that they have shared with us on the site. Again my apologies, as I only know how to write in English. Perhaps there is software that can translate for me. Will have to look into that. I am looking forward to the next event. Where do I sign up for it? Clear Skies, Fred
  23. Sorry that I didn't get to meet with you. Lets see, you are in Cephalonia. Yikes, I was last there in 1969. I remember visiting where Aghios Gerasimos lived and the grotto with the collapsed roof. If I can hitch a ride with someone from Athens to Mt. Parnon in the future, we should be able to meet. Of course I don't know how often you vsit Mt. Parnon. Cephalonia must have nice skies too.

Ok, thought that getting rid of the tent was a prelude to a bigger telescoe. I see that you have that famous painting, by Bob Mc Call, from 2001. Still the best sci-fi movie made.

Does this mean that you will be needing a bigger tent for your next telescope too? I should get one of these tents in the future. It would be great for my 10-inch LX200 F/6.3 (dedicated F/6.3).
